Position: HQ Classroom Assistant*Structured Language (Autism)*189 Days/6.5 hrs*7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Job Description

Salary Range: $17.04 – $22.71 (8 Steps)

Qualifications Desired

Skill in written and oral communication.
Proficiency in reading and math.
Strong interpersonal skills to assist classroom teacher with instructional activities, clerical work, and supervise one or small groups of children.
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Maintain a positive working relationship with students, parents, administration, and other staff members.
Meet Highly Qualified Classroom Assistant requirements.

Highly Qualified Requirements

Applicants must be deemed Highly Qualified by one of the following:

An associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours). Applicants must submit official transcripts from an accredited college or university.

An online assessment for paraprofessionals prescribed by the State Board of Education (Para Pro Assessment). Candidates must request their test scores be reported directly to the Ohio Department of Education from the Educational Testing Service. Upon successful passage, they will be able to add the ESEA designation to their ODE license.

Note:

The ESEA designation costs $20.00 and must be added to the ODE Educational Aide permit.

Testing & Prep

For candidates needing to take the Para Pro Assessment, the test will be scheduled in Mentor at the Mentor Schools Board of Education building after being hired as a full-time employee.
