OverviewWe are seeking a Product Development Technician to support the formulation, testing, and evaluation of adhesives and sealants in a laboratory setting. This hands‑on role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety while working collaboratively to support product development and innovation.
Responsibilities- Make batches of defined formulations with different kinds of mixers.
- Follow methodologies (ASTM and internal) to test different products (adhesives and sealants) aligning with specific protocols.
- Align with safety protocols in the laboratory and woodshop when preparing specimens for testing.
- Follow the established procedures for the 5S program and contribute to its success.
- Follow the requirements (Do's and don'ts) of Safety Lab.
- Handle power tools (drill, saws, routers, etc.).
- Leverage the digital product development platform daily as a Batch & Task performer.
- Actively participate in cross‑training and training of the team across technologies.
- Play a role in 5S and Lab Safety programs for product development.
- Establish and maintain good networking and relationships with the team and other business areas.
- Fabricate anything needed to test the product in application clinics or for customer demonstrations.
- Fully manage and lead product analysis and testing while documenting progress and results in the digital platform.
- Record, organize, and communicate results/data from experiments and testing, observing safety and environmental guidelines while handling products.
- Maintain laboratory and storage areas, as well as equipment, clean and in good shape.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a chemistry‑related or material science field from a four‑year college or university with three or more years of related experience in rubber, plastics compounding or coatings industry, or an associate’s degree (A.A.) in a chemistry‑related or material science field with five or more years of related experience or extensive training in the same industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Easy to communicate with the team and not afraid to ask questions.
- Work management: record, organize, and communicate results (reporting).
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.).
- Lifelong learner, necessary to learn the different technologies and methodologies that we work with.
