Position OverviewWe're looking for a highly skilled Automation Controls Engineer to lead full-cycle automation projects—from concept and design through programming, integration, and on-site commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge in robotics, PLCs, motion control, and vision systems, and will collaborate closely with internal teams and customers to deliver best-in-class solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead automation controls projects from design to commissioning
- Design and troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and safety circuits
- Program and integrate industrial robots (Fanuc, Motoman/Yaskawa, ABB, etc.)
- Develop PLC and HMI logic using platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Siemens
- Integrate machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.) for detection and quality control
- Define control system architecture: I/O, BOMs, network topologies, and safety systems
- Oversee panel build inspections, FAT, installation, and on-site startup
- Provide troubleshooting support and perform system upgrades as needed
- Assist in estimating and quoting for electrical and controls scopes of work
- Robotic programming and integration (Fanuc, Motoman/Yaskawa, ABB)
- Multi-axis motion control and servo systems experience
- Proficient in Rockwell (RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000) and Siemens (TIA Portal, S7)
- Familiarity with vision systems like Cognex or Keyence
- Knowledge of VFDs and drive systems (Power Flex, SINAMICS, ABB)
- Understanding of industrial networks and protocols (Ether Net/IP, PROFINET, Device Net)
- Strong project management and customer communication skills
