The Billing Specialist is responsible for the billing, payment posting, and collection of Crossroads’ accounts receivables, including work with clients, third‑party insurers, Medicaid, and the ADAMHS Board. The role involves establishing and updating client demographic information in the billing system, verifying payment arrangements, recording payments, and expediting collections and resolution of past‑due accounts.
Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable
:
Bill clients, MACSIS (ADAMHS Board, Medicaid), insurers, and other billing parties in a timely manner; verify insurance coverage; request and process additional billing information; record all payments; collaborate with team and payer structures to reduce outstanding accounts; assist in efforts that result in additional reimbursement for Crossroads Health. - Administration
:
Maintain current and accurate client balances; provide monthly billing statements for client portion; update insurance company correspondence, changes, and mailing lists. - Collections
:
Review payment remittances for full benefit reimbursement; resolve outstanding balances due to partial or non‑payment activity. - Payer Denials
:
Follow up on all denied claims, determine required actions, and turn denials into payment based on payer guidelines.
- Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience
:- Two (2) years of experience as a Billing Specialist (preferred).
- Experience in the healthcare or nonprofit sector (preferred).
- Licensure / Certifications
: BLS/CPR/First Aid (as applicable, company provided).
