CNC​/Manual steel grinder

Position: CNC / Manual steel grinder
Summary:

Produces machine parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC O.D grinding on Okuma machines, CNC I.D grinding on Okamoto Machines and manual jig grinding and manual surface grinding. Maintains quality and safety standards; keeps records and maintains equipment supplies by performing the following duties. Training provided and wage based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.

• Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances

• Programs CNC grinders by entering instructions, including zeros and reference points

• Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches

• Calculates requirements including basic math.

• Loads machine by lifting stock into position.

• Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to standards

• Take measurements

• Detecting malfunctions

• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Education and/or

Experience:

• Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

Skills:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
