Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to Dept. 650 Supervisor.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.

Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/quantity. Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have a strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self‑starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co‑workers, and supervisors.
Individual must also be capable of balancing multiple tasks at once while maintaining good attention to detail.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment. Previous casting experience is a plus.
Principal Area of Responsibility:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Grain Etch Operator etches castings, dips castings into caustic baths, fills and assists in the cleaning of caustic units, and performs miscellaneous tasks.
- Using a hoist, immerses castings, revert metal or other materials into a series of acid and water baths, adhering to specified procedures, temperatures, and time cycles.
- Removes castings from holders at completion of process and sets aside for removal.
- Regularly uses air pressure and water to rinse castings.
- Operates controls to regulate temperature of various baths and to adjust electric current used in electrolytic process.
- Loads castings into container and operates hoist to convey container into caustic bath adhering to procedure, temperatures, and time cycle.
- Removes container from caustic bath and immerses into water rinse for proper length of time.
- Rinses castings using water pressure.
- Fills caustic bath with caustic soda or other ingredients and helps in cleaning the baths when necessary.
- Verification of parts to paperwork.
- Perform other duties in department as assigned by Supervision.
- Keep the work area in a clean, orderly, and safe working condition.
- Follows safety practices and policies.
- Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.
- The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
