Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer (1st Shift, Mon-Fri)

The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and executing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs to support the accurate dimensional evaluation of turbine engine components for the Inspection (Visual/Dimensional) Department.

This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, regulatory requirements, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and internal quality standards. The CMM Programmer will work closely with the Inspection & Engineering Department to validate part conformity and enhance inspection efficiency primarily on aerospace components.

1. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

2. Develop new and improve existing CMM programs using specialized software programs, or equivalent metrology software based on engineering drawings, OEM’s, repair manuals and GD&T requirements.

3. Set up and operate CMM equipment to verify accuracy of existing and newly developed programs to verify dimensional characteristics of (1) incoming, (2) in-process, and (3) repaired components during all phases.

4. Perform and/or teach other CMM Technicians to accomplish complex dimensional inspections and generate detailed measurement reports for internal review.

5. Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accurate measurement of critical features, profiles, datums and tolerances.

6. Validate CMM programs for accuracy, repeatability, and measurement reliability.

7. Maintain CMM calibration status, probe libraries, and machine readiness and ensure complete and accurate inspection records in accordance with applicable authorities.

8. Work collaboratively with the Engineering, Quality and CSC Departments to resolve dimensional discrepancies and support troubleshooting. Participate in internal investigations to nonconformance, root cause analysis, and corrective action.

9. Recommend improvements in tooling, fixturing, measurement methods, and inspection strategy.

10. Perform manual dimensional inspections as required to verify CMM results.

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. A minimum of three years’ experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection in aerospace, precision machining or related manufacturing.

3. Experience as a metrologist with demonstrated knowledge of (1) establishing, maintaining, and improving upon measurement standards, (2) calibrating precision instruments, (3) developing measurement methods for high-tolerance parts, (4) ensuring measurements comply with industry, regulatory, and quality standards.

4. A background of inspecting turbine engine components, rotating parts or complex geometries.

5. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Other Qualifications

1. Associate degree or technical certification in Metrology, Manufacturing Technology, Aerospace Technology or related field preferred.

2. Experience in or a familiarity with the following preferred:

a. Understand GD&T / ASME Y14.5 & ISO.

b. Programming conditional logic & loop sequences.

c. Renishaw Revo 5-Axis Control.

d. I++ Specification.

f. Technical drawing interpretation and understanding.

g. Shop math principles and basic trigonometry.

Work Environment

1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.

2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.

3. Work in difficult positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (
