Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.

Work Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous casting experience is a plus.
Principal Area of Responsibility

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Grain Etch Operator etches castings, dips castings into caustic baths, fills and assists in the cleaning of caustic units, and performs miscellaneous tasks.

Specific Duties
  • Using a hoist, immerse castings, revert metal or other materials into a series of acid and water baths, adhering to specified procedures, temperatures, and time cycles.
  • Remove castings from holders at completion of process and set aside for removal.
  • Regularly use air pressure and water to rinse castings.
  • Operate controls to regulate temperature of various baths and adjust electric current used in electrolytic process.
  • Load castings into container and operate hoist to convey container into caustic bath adhering to procedure, temperatures, and time cycle.
  • Remove container from caustic bath and immerse into water rinse for proper length of time.
  • Rinse castings using water pressure.
  • Fill caustic bath with caustic soda or other ingredients and help in cleaning the baths when necessary.
  • Verification of parts to paperwork.
  • Perform other duties in department as assigned by Supervision.
  • Keep the work area clean, orderly, and in a safe working condition.
  • Follow safety practices and policies.
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
