CNC Machinist
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our machining department, operating various equipment including CNC Mills (HAAS VF4), CNC Lathes (Okuma, ProtoTRAK), and Manual Bridgeport machines. This role involves hands-on setup and operation, light program editing, tooling adjustments, and quality inspections. The successful candidate will work on shorter production runs, machining a mix of plastic and metal components, while maintaining high-quality and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Manual Bridgeport machines.
- Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine feeds, speeds, and tooling adjustments.
- Read and interpret blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Perform light program edits and understand G & M code.
- Support machine setup and prove-outs.
- Run short production batches with frequent changeovers.
- Perform in-process and final inspections using precision tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Load/unload parts and manage multiple machines as needed.
- Troubleshoot machining or quality issues.
- Work closely with team members to maintain production flow.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
- Ability to work on both mills and lathes.
- Basic understanding of G & M code.
- Strong blueprint reading skills with GD&T understanding preferred.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to work in a job shop/short-run style environment.
- Comfortable running multiple machines and handling changeovers.
Qualifications
- Experience with CNC setup (offsets/tool changes/feed & speed adjustments).
- Experience with HAAS mills, Okuma lathes, ProtoTRAK machines, and Manual Bridgeport equipment.
- Ability to edit programs at the machine (no full programming required).
- Any CAM programming experience (Mastercam, Fusion, etc.).
- Experience machining plastics.
- Experience in precision or custom manufacturing.
- Experience in low-volume/high-mix environments.
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices.

Work Environment
Work within a clean and temperature-controlled machining department, where machines are closely spaced. Expect to run multiple machines simultaneously in a smaller yet well-maintained facility.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mentor, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
