Job Description
Night Shift – Open. Provides services to clients in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Agency policy, and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory under the direction of a medically approved care plan.
Reports to:
Clinical Supervisor
Provides supervision to:
None – No supervision responsibilities.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of operation.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state and/or agency requirements.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health nursing.
- Perform physical assessments of clients, and may complete comprehensive assessments for client admissions and reassessments at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
- Supervise Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
- Report changes in client condition promptly to the medical practitioner overseeing care and to other members of the client’s care team.
- Participate in the development of the client care plan.
- Consistently demonstrate competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
- Practice nursing with respect for individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.
- Follow agency policies and procedures as well as payor and accreditation requirements.
- Initiate actions to improve the quality of client care and to prevent negative outcomes. Continuously promote safety and infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Participate in ongoing, professional self‑development.
- Delegate tasks to Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) based on their legal scope of practice and where circumstances require.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
