Stepdown RN - Mentor, Ohio

Seeking a skilled registered nurse to provide patient-focused, stepdown-level care in a dynamic hospital environment. This contract role requires the ability to deliver safe, efficient patient care using the nursing process and to partner with families to help patients achieve their best health outcomes. The position involves implementing evidence-based nursing practices, delivering compassionate, relationship-centered care, and supporting optimal clinical results through strong technical skills, effective communication, and teamwork.

Schedule/Hours:

• Contract position; various shifts available based on unit needs.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Current RN license in good standing
• Demonstrated experience in Stepdown or similar acute care nursing setting
• Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Ability to maintain a nurse/patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 as required
• Willingness and flexibility to float between inpatient areas, including stepdown units, medical/surgical units, and emergency departments, as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide safe, age-specific care utilizing the nursing process to patients and families
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and document all aspects of care appropriately
• Demonstrate leadership in clinical and operational decision-making
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
• Contribute to continuous improvement of clinical operations and nursing practice
• Adapt quickly to changes in assignments and unit placement, providing seamless care across units as needed
