The opportunity

Super Sky Products Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to develop accurate material and labor estimates for custom skylight and architectural-glazing projects. The Estimator translates architectural plans, specifications and project requirements into practical, competitive pricing while identifying scope, cost and schedule risks. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to distinctive, technically complex commercial projects throughout the United States.

Founded in 1923 and designing skylight systems since 1929, Super Sky Products Enterprises creates custom aluminum-framed skylights and architectural-glazing systems for commercial projects. Our work includes new construction, repair and renovation, point-supported glazing, and hurricane-, blast- and impact-resistant systems. From our Mequon facility, sales, estimating, engineering and manufacturing teams collaborate on projects from early design through installation.

• Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, bid instructions, general conditions and project requirements.
• Prepare material and labor take-offs for glass, aluminum extrusions, flashing, purchased components, engineering, fabrication and installation.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for custom projects, including changes, additions and jobsite requirements.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and clarify pricing or scope as needed.
• Identify scope gaps, unusual conditions, cost discrepancies and project risks before bids are submitted.
• Maintain current material, labor, vendor and subcontractor pricing information.
• Collaborate with sales and technical teams to prepare clear, competitive proposals and document estimating assumptions.
• Assist with preliminary details, computer drafting or skylight modeling when needed.

• Experience reading architectural or construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing estimates, quantity take-offs or material-cost analyses for construction or manufactured products.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with careful attention to accuracy and detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn company estimating and business systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities, document assumptions and meet bid deadlines.
• Associate degree in architecture, engineering or another technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Two to four years of construction estimating or related industry experience.
• Experience with architectural glass, glazing, skylights, curtain wall, aluminum systems or specialty construction products.
• Experience with AutoCAD or related computer-drafting software.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, specifications, vendor pricing and subcontractor quotations.
• Working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry.
