Online Teaching, College Lecturer, IT/Computer Science Instructor
Description
We are seeking someone who can develop and teach general education courses in English, in‑person or online, at various MATC campuses and other sites. This role requires teaching during the day, evening and/or weekends, participating in department meetings, curriculum development, and engaging students.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum
Educational Requirements:
Must have a master’s degree or higher in English or a related discipline with at least 18 graduate‑level English coursework credits. A concentration in reading and writing is preferred.
- Previous post‑secondary teaching experience.
- Experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in a variety of classroom environments, including in‑person and online.
- Experience teaching composition and/or literature.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Arabic.

- Email – Experience with an email system (Gmail, Outlook)

Essential Supportive Technology:
- Online Information Management Systems – Experience with Serf‑Service or other similar systems used for student advising, programs, grading, schedules and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course‑management systems.
- Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with classroom technology such as SMART boards, interactive touch screens, LCD projectors, DVD players, or other instructional delivery systems.
- Emerging Technologies – Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications).
Start Date: Fall semester, approximately August 2026.
Hours: Part‑time faculty pool; assignments are temporary, schedule variable, and may be in‑person, online, hybrid, daytime, evening or weekend.
Salary: Starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per hour of teaching. Additional compensation worth 45 minutes per teaching hour is paid at $70 per hour for office hours and prep time. This wage is non‑negotiable.
Interview: Selected candidates will prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes. The interview may be conducted in‑person or virtually.
