Job Description
As a Product Compliance Project Engineer you will support projects to address product standards, certifications, and regulations including those required for electrical safety, management of hazardous substances, EMC performance, energy efficiency, and end‑of‑life responsibilities. You will work with the New Product Introduction processes to ensure that Rockwell Automation products meet relevant regulations and certification requirements.
Responsibilities- Ensure completion of product development compliance deliverables, including compliance assessment, design review, certification and test plan creation, documentation, and process implementation for new product introductions.
- Serve as the primary product compliance interface with domestic and third‑party safety agencies such as UL, CSA, FM, and TUV.
- Lead cross‑functional projects of medium‑ to large‑scale to enact changes that ensure compliance with new or changed product environmental regulations and safety certification requirements.
- Work with Global Product Standards & Regulations to monitor and analyze regulatory trends and share information with impacted business groups.
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and suppliers to ensure the supply chain supports Rockwell Automation compliance programs.
- Support external customers by addressing requirements for product compliance information.
- Lead strategy development, business process development, and critical issue closure across technical disciplines for RA local organizations.
- Lead project teams consisting of cross‑functional personnel to address product design issues related to regulations, environmental regulations, and safety certifications.
- Oversee contractors, interns, and third‑party consultants in daily and project activities.
- Influence business groups to incorporate regulatory and certification requirements into product designs for legacy and new products.
- Give presentations to share information and obtain support for compliance programs.
- Build partnerships across the company to create common vision, goals, and teamwork.
- Develop and maintain project plans and schedules for high‑strategic importance projects.
- Monitor regulatory and market drivers and assess risk and strategy for ensuring compliance.
- Manage goals in context of higher‑level business goals and constraints, presenting strategies to stakeholders and decision‑makers to secure support.
- Essentials –
You Will Have: - Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship will not be provided.
- Minimum 8 years of related experience (including 12+ years in manufacturing/development engineering in an electronics or electrical equipment environment).
- Direct experience with product compliance activities and knowledge of basic engineering and manufacturing principles.
- Experience in project management, process improvement, and large‑scale, complex work.
- LSS and/or PMP certification (preferred).
- Using the Rockwell Automation Common Product Development (CPD) Process.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and drive change management projects.
- Familiarity with functional safety product certification, regulatory analysis, and product stewardship.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% (including international).
- Preferred – You Might Also Have:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, or Computer Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience working in a SAP or equivalent ERP system.
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation products.
- Further education in engineering, business administration, operations, or project management.
