Production Supervisor (1st Shift)

We are a leading, multi-state contract manufacturer now seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor and deliver consistent, high-quality output across multiple SKUs. The Production Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating production activities, driving continuous improvement, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring on-time delivery of products. This role requires solid manufacturing experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet volume, quality, and delivery targets across multiple SKUs.
- Manage and supervise production teams on the floor, including hiring, training, performance management, and shift planning.
- Optimize production processes and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput while maintaining product quality.
- Implement and enforce safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance on the manufacturing floor.
- Monitor production KPIs and prepare regular reports on output, efficiency, downtime, and quality metrics; take corrective action as needed.
- Oversee inventory management and work closely with procurement and supply chain to ensure materials availability and minimize stockouts.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S or similar) to support high-volume and high-speed production requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to investigate defects, manage root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication with engineering, maintenance, planning, and customer service to resolve production issues and support new product introductions.
- Manage budget and cost control efforts related to labor, materials, and equipment utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or related field, or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in production or manufacturing management, including hands-on knowledge of multi-SKU environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead production teams, including supervision and floor management experience.
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
- Experience with quality control processes and tools; ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Familiarity with high-volume and high-speed manufacturing operations is a plus.
- Experience in consumer products manufacturing is desirable but not required.
- Proficiency with production tracking systems, ERP/MRP software, and common manufacturing metrics.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
