Position Summary

Concordia University seeks a full‑time undergraduate faculty member in the School of Nursing (SON). The successful candidate is a registered professional nurse with a terminal degree who will teach classroom courses (face‑to‑face, online, blended), provide clinical instruction, and engage in other activities related to nursing education. This is a twelve‑month on‑site contract requiring campus presence on teaching days, Monday and Thursday for meetings.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Faculty members must comply with all university rules and regulations and perform the following responsibilities.

Academic
  • Implement teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students.
  • Provide timely written and verbal feedback on student performance.
  • Maintain current records of student grades and academic work.
  • Participate in ongoing course and program review and revision.
  • Participate in program governance.
Clinical
  • Teach and/or coordinate clinical courses based on professional expertise.
  • Follow SON policies and procedures related to clinical teaching and student performance.
  • Communicate regularly with course coordinators and the program director/chair regarding concerns.
  • Collaborate with staff at assigned clinical facilities/agencies.
  • Meet health and vaccination requirements for all healthcare clinical affiliates partnering with the SON programs.
Professional Activity
  • Maintain unencumbered RN licensure and current knowledge of clinical practice within teaching areas.
  • Assist with recruitment of students.
  • Participate in professional, community, university, and school service.
  • Engage in scholarship commensurate with academic rank.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Effective leadership, organizational skills, and self‑starter.
  • Willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations.
  • Experience with technology, especially high‑fidelity simulation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with university campus life.
  • Ability to handle interruptions and work in fast‑paced environments.
  • Professional presentation in a Christian and academic setting.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Occasional travel.
  • Reliability in meeting deadlines and working evenings or weekends.
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Education & Experience
  • Current Wisconsin RN licensure or eligibility.
  • Master of Science in Nursing and a doctorate in nursing or related field.
  • Current knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical practice in at least one specialty: pharmacology, community health, psychological health, med‑surg, obstetrics/women’s health, leadership and management.
  • Previous teaching experience at a baccalaureate or higher degree program (preferred).
  • Previous use of innovative and active teaching strategies, including simulation and virtual reality.
