Join a dynamic and innovative Agriculture team at Merced College and play a vital role in supporting programs that connect education, workforce development, and hands‑on learning. The Administrative Assistant for Agriculture Programs provides key administrative and operational support for our instructional farm, Ag Innovation Center, and a wide range of agriculture‑related programs and events.
In this role, you’ll work closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to keep daily operations running smoothly—supporting scheduling, purchasing, documentation, communications, and coordination across multiple initiatives. You’ll also support student‑focused and industry‑engaged events, community outreach activities, and workforce development efforts that showcase the impact of agriculture in the Central Valley.

General DescriptionUnder general supervision, coordinate assistance to students and staff, develop and maintain the budget, generate statistical data, perform varied secretarial and clerical duties, coordinate office activities, provide administrative relief; supervise clerical functions and oversee the assigned area in the absence of the administrator; and perform related work as required.
Responsibilities- Performs a wide variety of clerical and secretarial duties involving the use of considerable independent judgment and an understanding of district policies, functions and procedures
- Develops working knowledge of special terminology related to the function to which assigned
- Receives visitors and gives out information or refers callers to proper officials
- May take minutes
- Types a variety of materials
- Answers routine letters independently
- Receives telephone calls
- Arranges meetings for the supervisor which may involve contact with other departments
- May make travel and hotel reservations
- Prepares schedules of meetings and ensures that participants are informed of meeting dates
- Keeps records of various committees
- Installs and revises filing systems and other clerical procedures
- Receives a variety of information which may be of a confidential nature
- Orders supplies
- Operates varied office equipment
- Assists in the process which leads to the hiring of employees
- Trains, assigns and reviews work of subordinate employees or student assistants
- Coordinates workshops
- Facilitates outreach activities
- Provides students with college information and other services
- Provides budget management
- Responsible for all monetary procedures
- Maintains subsidiary programs
- Collects and organizes record of services provided to students
- Coordinates scheduling of facilities
- Coordinates the development and implementation of schedules
- Other related duties as assigned
