Position
Night/Weekend Services Coordinator
CompensationHourly range:
Step 1: $27.74/hr – Step 17: $36.08/hr budgeted hourly range:

Schedule:
Friday 2 pm‑6 pm, Saturday 10 am‑6 pm. Works only during the 16‑week academic semesters (no winter intercession or summer).

- Coordinate Help Desk and Library Services Desk activities during evening and weekend hours to ensure consistency with day‑time operations.
- Respond to security alarms and other security‑related incidents involving deviant behavior, computer hacking, theft of personal or library property, and evacuation of the library.
- Supervise 10–15 FTE student assistants performing circulation, shelving, and other access services tasks.
- Provide training and coaching to student employees and other staff in all areas of circulation, course reserve, and other access services functions.
- Write procedural documents and training manuals for areas of responsibility.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of equipment within the Access Services Unit.
- Assist with shelving operations, ensuring that print resources and other materials are re‑shelved promptly and that shelf‑reading, claims returned, and missing item checks are performed routinely.
- Respond to building and facility issues outside normal weekdays, including reporting and resolving safety and security concerns.
- Respond to user concerns or problems related to library operations and services; independently resolve problems when possible and refer others to appropriate personnel.
- Provide support for routine processes related to ongoing library operations under the general supervision of the Library Services Manager.
- Schedule and plan library and library services training events, coordinating with library administration as needed.
- Assist with data collection and creation of documentation for reporting purposes.
- Serve as the primary resource for library room reservation processes.
- Assist with, schedule, and coordinate building assessments throughout the academic and calendar year.
- Provide basic information and reference service at the Library Services Desk, referring complex or advanced reference questions to library professional staff.
- Serve on local committees, work groups, and teams as assigned.
- Manage projects in support of the goals of the library and Access Services Unit.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Recent library public service experience.
- Knowledge of standard office practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows programs, specifically MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to search the internet and use e‑mail programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proper grammar, spelling, and business formats.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with the public in a library setting.
- Availability to work night and weekend shifts.
- Recent library public service experience.
- Knowledge of library public services and standard office practices.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows programs, especially MS Word and Excel.
- Internet search ability and familiarity with e‑mail systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and library public interaction.
- Availability for night and weekend work.
