Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance instructional workload calculation.

The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in AY :

Classroom Management and Interactions
Diversity in Education
Project-based Instruction
Technology in Education
Apprentice Teaching
Other courses as needed.

These pedagogy courses include general education topics combined with a focus on teaching STEM disciplines. The candidate will have opportunities to engage in program building efforts and have an extensive impact on the growth and development of the Cal Teach program.

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will be evaluating student work and exams, calculating and posting grades, and holding regular posted office hours each week.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Appointments for AY 2026/2027 and/or Fall 2026 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2027 semester are reviewed in October. The posting will remain open through February 2027 to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants.

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in STEM, education, or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
