Position overview

Position title: Lecturer in Summer Session

Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. For current appointees, normal compensation will be based on the annual salary of the Unit 18 non-senate faculty in effect as of June 30 of the calendar year in which summer session begins. Salary is prorated in accordance with the instructional workload calculation.

Position description

Teaching courses in Summer 2026:
Classroom Interactions
, Issues in Teaching with Fieldwork
, Project Based Instruction
, Other courses as needed.

These pedagogy courses include general education topics combined with a focus on teaching STEM disciplines. The candidate will have opportunities to engage in program building efforts and have an extensive impact on the growth and development of the Cal Teach program.

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will evaluate student work and exams, calculate and post grades, and hold regular posted office hours each week.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. See the current Lecturers Unit (IX) bargaining agreement for additional information.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in STEM, education, or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
