Associate Instructor in Chemical and Materials Engineering Position overview
Position title:
Associate Instructor. Percent time: 25%–50% full‑time. Anticipated start:
Fall 2026 (August 15, 2026) or Spring 2027 (January 1, 2027). Duration up to one semester or a summer term. Salary range: see Table 19 for full range;
Salary Point 6 is $85,898 annually.
The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Associate Instructors for lower‑ and upper‑division courses for Academic Year 2026‑2027, including Summer Session 2026, in the discipline Materials Science and Engineering Fundamentals. Courses may include Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, and other related subjects.
Under supervision of a faculty mentor, the Associate Instructor will lead instruction of a course. Additional duties may include grading, leading discussion sections when appropriate, and holding office hours. Associate Instructors are represented by UAW‑AFL‑CIO.
Qualifications Basic qualificationsAssociate Instructors must have one year of Teaching Assistant experience.
