Job Overview
Merced College is seeking a part‑time Adjunct Faculty member to teach a variety of welding courses under the direction of the Dean of Career Technical Education. The position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $65.60 to $84.79 and a maximum teaching load of 10 units per semester, including evening and weekend hours. This role is open for the 2025‑2026 academic year and is located in Merced, CA.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations
- Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policy
- Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations
- Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
- Participate in the development and review of curriculum and teaching‑learning methods
- Engage in departmental, area, and campus professional activities and committees
- Contribute to the college's learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments
- Perform student record tasks, such as submitting grades on time to admissions and records
- Option 1: A bachelor’s degree or higher AND at least two years of professional experience in welding
- Option 2:
An associate’s degree AND at least six years of professional experience in the discipline - Applicants with a master’s degree or higher must possess the relevant professional experience (or its equivalent)
- Demonstrated commitment to culturally affirming DEIA and anti‑racist principles, fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Holding or having held an AWS Certificate in MIG, TIG, and structural SMAW welding
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Current technology skills related to teaching in welding and a willingness to adopt emerging technologies

Faculty employed on a part‑time hourly basis are eligible for sick leave credit at the rate of one hour for every twenty hours of paid service.
