Position Overview
- Position title:
Associate Instructor - Salary range: see Table 19 for the salary range for this position. Salary is normally based on an annual full-time salary at Salary Point 6 of $85,898; see Table 19 for the full range of salary points. Associate Instructors will not be appointed for more than 50% time during the Fall & Spring semesters.
- Percent time: 25% - 50%
- Anticipated start:
Fall 2026 – August 1 2026;
Spring 2027 – January 1 2027 - Position duration:
Duration may be up to one semester.
- Associate Instructors will be hired for lower- and upper-division courses in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Fundamentals (possible courses include Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, etc.).
- Under the supervision of a faculty mentor, the Associate Instructor will be responsible for leading instruction of a course.
- Additional duties may include grading, leading discussion sections when appropriate, and holding office hours.
- The University of California Associate Instructors are represented by the UAW‑AFL‑CIO.
