Position DescriptionThe Chemical and Materials Engineering department is hiring Readers for the following courses in Summer 2026:
- ENGR 45:
Introduction to Materials - Other courses as needed
Applicants should refer to the course catalog for descriptions.
The Reader will be responsible for grading homework, quizzes, and exams under the supervisor of the instructor. The position requires up to 18 hours per week.
Readers are represented by UAW‑AFL‑CIO.
QualificationsBasic qualifications:
• Successfully completed the course or a related course with a grade of "B" or higher and be in good standing at the University with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
• Readers are usually graduate students; qualified undergraduate students may be employed when graduate students are not available.
• Professional readers not enrolled as students may be employed on an hourly basis to meet special needs.

Cover Letter – Identify the course(s) you are interested in.
Unofficial Transcript – Confirm completed course with a grade of "B" or higher; include GPA and standing.
Authorization to Release Information Form – Disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining misconduct. The required form is available for download; complete, sign, and upload.
