CDC Associate Teacher – Merced College
Salary: $3,807.00 - $4,819.00 monthly.
Location:
Merced College, CA. Positions available at Merced Campus and Los Banos Campus. This is a Classified Full Time position, with 40 hours per week and 8.5 months per year. Closing date: 6/30/2026 11:59 PM Pacific.
- Assist the lead teacher in planning, teaching and supervising a group of children, ensuring an appropriate classroom environment and providing activities and experiences for all areas of children’s development.
- Oversee classroom operations and staffing in the absence of the lead teacher.
- Greet parents warmly and consistently communicate with them.
- Administer assessments and screenings; observe, assess growth and development of assigned children and record results.
- Maintain required records and develop portfolios that document developmental growth.
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of lesson plans based on child observations, individual education plans (IEP), family service education plan (FSEP) goals, and assessment results.
- Implement intervention practices based on individualized goals under guidance of the lead teacher and instruction of the Family Service Education Coordinator, speech and language pathologists, psychologists, medical professionals, and other support persons.
- Support the full integration of children with special needs; assist with planning and providing daily experiences, activities and routines that meet IEP/FSEP goals.
- Adapt curriculum and prepare specialized materials to meet the needs of children with disabilities.
- Collaborate with lab instructors and provide modeling and support for college lab students training in the classroom.
- Assist with scheduling and conduct parent/teacher conferences; develop goals for the child’s growth with the parent.
- Participate in staff meetings, training activities, case conferences, parent conferences, center meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as directed.
- Provide training and guidance for classroom volunteers.
- Prepare snacks and follow food program guidelines; participate in family style meal service; set up tables, guide children in cleanup activities, and wash and sanitize dishes according to center procedure.
- Carry out authorized emergency and safety procedures and administer first aid.
- Report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect in accordance with Title V regulations and policy.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping, laundry, windows, etc.
- Assist with special projects such as open houses, parent meetings, fundraisers, etc., during or after normal work schedule.
- Comply with Child Development Center policies and procedures, administrative regulations, State of California Health and Welfare Codes, and Child Development Division Title V regulations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Early Childhood Education.
- Ability to speak, read and write English clearly.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records using proper spelling and accurate calculations.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach overhead, stoop, twist, push, pull and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capacity to stand on feet for long periods, sit on floor or child-sized chair.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment.
- 24 units of ECE/CD + 16 units of general education, plus 2 adult supervision units and 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development within first year of employment.
- Must possess or be eligible for a Teacher Permit.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in ECE/CD or related field, or AA/AS in any field plus 24 units of ECE/CD, plus 2 adult supervision units and 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development.
