Salary range:
See Table 19 for the salary range for this position. Salary is normally based on an annual full-time salary at Salary Point 6 of $85,898; see Table 19 for the full range of salary points. Associate Instructors will not be appointed for more than 50% time during the Fall & Spring semesters.
Percent time: 25% - 50%
Anticipated start:
Fall 2026 - August 15, 2026;
Spring 2027 - January 1, 2027
Position duration:
Duration may be up to one semester or a summer term.

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Associate Instructors for lower- and upper-division courses for Academic Year , including Summer Session 2026, in the following disciplines:
- Materials Science and Engineering Fundamentals (courses may include the following:
Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, etc.)
Under supervision of a faculty mentor, the Associate Instructor will be responsible for leading instruction of a course. Additional duties may include grading, leading discussion sections when appropriate and holding office hours.
The University of California Associate Instructors are represented by the UAW-AFL-CIO.
QualificationsAssociate Instructors must have one year of Teaching Assistant experience.
