Job Overview
This recruitment is being conducted to establish a pool of qualified candidates for CDC Master Teacher opportunities with Merced Community College District. The pool may be used to fill vacancies at the following locations:
- Merced Campus
- Los Banos Campus
Under supervision of the Child Development Center Director, assists with the planning, organizing, and implementation of program educational services for children, parents, and staff. These services include classroom instruction, curriculum development, staff development, coordination of daily operations, and ensuring compliance with child development program funding regulations and state licensing regulations.
Essential Functions- Works cooperatively with lab program and instructors and provides modeling and support for college lab students training in the classroom
- Teaches and supervises a group of children as needed
- Supports staff with planning and implementing curriculum
- Assists with the supervision and monitoring of all classroom practices—room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure adherence to program policies
- Assists with the supervision of children’s assessment; reviews child development assessment and work; data entry of children’s assessment and outcome reports, including observations of children and staff in each classroom
- Assists with program compliance, audits, evaluations, accreditation and assessments
- Maintains required staff documentation to ensure compliance with licensing
- Complies with Child Development Center (CDC) policies and procedures, administrative regulations, State of California Health and Welfare Codes, and Child Development Division Title V regulations
- Develops and participates in pre‑service and monthly in‑service training for teaching staff
- Assists with special programs, classroom events, open house, fundraisers and parent orientation and meetings
- Assists with health screenings, attends I.E.P.s, and refers children when indicated
- Verifies Web Time Entries for work study and general fund students
- Compiles and tabulates statistical data
- Assists with inventories and purchasing of consumable supplies
- Assists with writing monthly parent newsletters
- Coordinates fire drills and emergency evacuation drills
- Coordinates staff to maintain adult/child ratios
- Assists and supervises volunteers
- Carries out authorized emergency and safety procedures and administers first aid
- Performs light housekeeping duties such as sweeping, laundry, windows, etc.
- Reports suspected cases of child abuse and neglect in accordance with regulations and policies
- Other related duties as assigned
- Principles and practices of early childhood education
- Speak, read and write English clearly
- Work effectively with children, parents, staff, volunteers and community members
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand on feet for long periods of time
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in ECE/CD (or closely related field)
OR
- AA/AS in any field plus 24 units of ECE/CD; plus 2 adult supervision units and 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development
- Must possess or be eligible for a Master Teacher Permit
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Work is performed primarily in a classroom environment; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings.
