Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. Salary is prorated in accordance with instructional workload calculation.

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (minimum 2 hours per week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant or reader.
This is a limited‑term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching that includes a list of courses previously taught, noting class size and indicating whether the applicant served as primary or secondary instructor, and a list of three references with contact information. Applicants should also submit teaching evaluations if available.
QualificationsAdvanced degree in a relevant area or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States. UC Merced is not currently able to sponsor individuals residing outside the United States who would require a new H‑1B visa for employment. Applicants who do not hold valid U.S. work authorization are ineligible for this position.
