Position Overview

Position title: Unit 18 Faculty

Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance instructional workload calculation.

Anticipated start: Academic Year: 7/1/2026 - 6/30/2027;
Fall Semester: 8/1/2026 - 12/31/2026;
Spring Semester: 1/1/2027 - 5/31/2027.

Position Description

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts seeks lecturers to teach courses in Public Health in the Academic Year 2026-27. Courses being offered may include but are not limited to:

  • Research Methods
  • Health Promotion
  • Health Communication
  • Public Health Internships in the Community

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours per week), grading examinations and/or papers, and may also be required to hold discussion and lab sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant.

This is a limited‑term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. See the current Lecturers Unit (IX) bargaining agreement for additional information.

Review of applications will begin 6/3/2026 and will remain open until the conclusion of the Academic Year. Full time and part time positions available. Part time varies based on need and availability.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications: Advanced degree and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching.
