Hiring Range

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.

Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The salary range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $57,300 - $67,725.

Job Closing Date

Remote/Hybrid eligibility:
Hybrid, 5 days in office from start to end of month 3; 4 days in office, 1 day remote from month 4-6; 3 days in office, 2 days remote after as long as probation is successfully completed.

This union position is represented by the bargaining UAW-SSAP (SV).

About the Job

The Academic Advisor, Degree Completion Program (DCP) Coordinator supports reentry of students and processes, associated with degree completion and persistence/retention initiatives. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, while applying skills as a seasoned, experienced academic advisor, the Academic Advisor, DCP Coordinator provides academic advising for reentry, prospective, and current students in the School's programs. A dimension of responsibilities includes pre-advising to provide degree-planning explanations and general guidance toward degree-completion goals.

The Academic Advisor, DCP Coordinator works closely with SSHA Academic Advisors, faculty, and other campus academic advisors in the planning, development, and implementation of a coordinated and comprehensive academic advising program for reentry and returning students. Interprets and explains University and School policies and procedures relevant to undergraduate programs. Advises faculty and management on a variety of reentry and returning student issues/challenges.

Works with SSHA Leadership to recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures as they apply and impact this demographic. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for reentry, prospective, and current students in the School and directs them to appropriate University resources. Advises and counsels individuals with unique and/or confidential problems/challenges, and arranges specialized help for students as needed through other support services within the University.

Provides student services support to traditional transfer students alongside the Academic Advisor, Transfer Coordinator.

Provides advice to students on the full range of school requirements, including a wide variety of course requirements. Develops advising materials and tools for use by students and other academic advising units. Recommends solutions to progression and requirement issues. Advice may include programs that are not clearly defined, such as independent study, interdisciplinary, or multiple programs. Attends campus-wide events, including but not limited to Commencement, Bobcat Day, etc.,
