As a technician, you will perform service on Building Management Systems (BMS), controls instrumentation, and other low‑voltage building systems at customer campuses, troubleshoot and repair elements, adjust parameters, modify control programs, and ensure automation issues are resolved to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform service on the BMS, controls instrumentation, and low‑voltage building systems in a fast‑paced environment.
- Diagnose, repair or replace elements of the controls system.
- Adjust BMS parameters or modify control programs to resolve automation issues and satisfy customer requirements.
- Adhere to Johnson Controls and customer safety standards and communicate with the FM team at shift start and end.
- Respond to BMS support requests and conduct root‑cause analysis using critical thinking skills.
- Coordinate repairs in the field and interpret building mechanical schematics, BMS submittals & sequences, and electrical line diagrams.
- Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in JCI’s product lines and complete required certifications.
- Continuously optimize building systems for improved operation and perform recurring preventive maintenance tasks and system checks.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network‑related issues with the IP layer of BMS components.
- Perform audits of controls, including networked devices, to identify potential cyber‑security risks and support mitigation.
- Provide support to JCI’s Integrated Operations Centre support team and to other JCI‑operated facilities.
- With the energy manager, investigate and implement energy conservation measures in building automation systems.
- Support the FM team with other low‑voltage systems such as security and data.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards and perform other duties as required.
- 4+ years of technical education in electronics, electrical engineering, instrumentation, computer science, or automation engineering, OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of industry experience in commercial building automation.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and their automation.
- Experience with BMS, low‑voltage building systems, network troubleshooting, and cyber‑security audit of controls.
- Strong critical‑thinking, communication, and detail‑oriented skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and participate in on‑call rotations if required.
- Must pass extensive security/background checks.
- Salary range: $67,000 – $93,000 (commensurate with experience).
