About the Role

The Janitor plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for our customers and team members. This role is responsible for cleaning store facilities, restrooms, and parking areas, as well as assisting at the check stand with bagging, carry‑out service, and cart collection. Janitors ensure the store environment reflects Vallarta’s high standards for safety, sanitation, and customer service.

• Smile and greet customers and team members; provide extraordinary service.

• Sweep, mop, and dry sales floors; perform “Gleason Sweep” inspections as needed.
• Respond promptly to spills and clean‑ups; secure areas to ensure safety.
• Clean restrooms, fixtures, windows, walls, and replenish supplies.
• Empty and clean trash receptacles throughout the store and outside areas.
• Conduct pressure washing inside and outside the store following safety standards.
• Clean vents, drains, and replace store lights as required.
• Identify and report building maintenance needs and safety hazards.
• Maintain janitorial storage rooms clean, organized, and stocked.
• Assist customers at the check stand by bagging groceries and performing go‑backs.
• Perform accurate price checks as requested.
• Provide carry‑out service and help customers with carts and purchases.
• Gather shopping carts safely using reflective vest and rope.
• Work as part of a team; assist coworkers as needed.
• Follow all company policies, safety rules, and Employee Handbook.
• Treat customers and coworkers respectfully at all times.
• Perform additional janitorial or customer service duties as assigned.

• Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
• Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Frequent hand use for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
• Heaviest item required to carry: 40 lbs., up to 40 feet.
• Operate manual pallet jacks safely (buddy system required).
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
• Work near equipment/machinery and on uneven ground.

• Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service skills.
• Basic understanding of English language.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to learn and comply with HAZMAT program and safety procedures.
• Professional, responsible, and positive attitude.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fast‑paced grocery store setting with direct customer interaction.
• Exposure to cleaning supplies, perishable products, and changing conditions.
• Collaborative, team‑focused workplace.
• Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
