Position SummaryWe are looking for a dedicated and hard-working Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in the medical department at the Mercer County Prison. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care and perform duties under the supervision of an RN.
Sign‑On BonusNow offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for full‑time positions.
Shift Options- Full‑time and part‑time mixture of day and evening shifts (primarily evenings)
- Full‑time night shift (8 or 12 hours)
The Licensed Practical Nurse will primarily be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care while ensuring the proper flow of relevant information is communicated to appropriate personnel.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws
- Conducting sick call for inmate/patients and providing treatment for illnesses and injuries, defined by written protocol and approved by PCM Medical Director
- Observing, reporting, and documenting symptoms, reactions and progress of inmates/patients and participating in the formulation of the plan of care
- Recording, retrieving and filing medical information in the inmate/patient medical record
- Maintaining, updating, and working with electronic medical records and ensuring they are secure
This position provides a 2‑week orientation period where you will be trained on‑the‑job and shadowing with the nursing staff.

QualificationsThe Licensed Practical Nurse will be expected to multitask and possess strong patient assessment skills. Additionally, the LPN must be licensed to practice nursing in the state where the facility is located.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to function under supervision
- Demonstrated clinical competency
- Experience in correctional health care delivery system, a plus
