Responsibilities
The Berkley Accident & Health Program Development Intern supports the A&H team in areas of underwriting, claims analysis, compliance, program development and operations. This role is designed for students interested in insurance, risk management, healthcare benefits, or data analytics. The intern will gain hands-on experience working with specific department, learn real business data, industry processes, and contributing to team projects.
Key functions will include but are not limited to:
Program Development:
* Support creation of sales presentations, program summaries, and related materials.
* Maintain program documentation, renewal logs, activity tracking, and reporting tools.
* Participate in strategic and process-improvement projects supporting Program Development.
* Participate in a competitive intelligence project
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including underwriting, claims adjusters, and operations staff. Assist with special projects that enhance operation efficiency or improve customer experience.
Learning & Development:
Participate in training sessions, team meetings, shadowing opportunities, and mentorship programs to build industry knowledge.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma. Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with data sets.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL) is a plus.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Interest in insurance, healthcare benefits, or risk management
