Therap Services, the national leader in online electronic health records and documentation for people with developmental disabilities is seeking an individual to fill the position of Senior Staff Accountant in the Torrington, CT office. This a full-time on-site position ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within Quick Books Online , and preparing comprehensive financial reports and statements for external audit purposes.
PrimaryResponsibilities Audit Preparation and Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, providing all necessary documentation, explanations, and support for the annual audit.
- Prepare detailed audit schedules and reconciliations to facilitate a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Address auditor inquiries and work collaboratively to resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure all financial records and processes are audit-ready at all times.
- Stay ahead of relevant accounting standards, including ASC 606
, and ensure financial practices are compliant with regulations. - Responsible for multiple state filings.
- Provide essential financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and special projects as requested.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate and timely trial balances.
- Generate draft financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) for internal review and external auditor provision.
- Manage and maintain all financial records within Quick Books Online
, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting principles. - Oversee the processing of invoices annually, ensuring timely and accurate billing and revenue recognition.
- Manage accounts receivables and expense recording including fixed asset management including schedules and depreciation.
- Reconcile all bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
- Ensure proper classification of all financial transactions.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and boost efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Prefer a CPA with 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a similar leadership role.
- Highly experienced in preparing financial statements for audit and working collaboratively with external auditors.
- You possess a strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and have experience with ASC 606 recording.
- An absolute expert in Quick Books Online
, with proven experience managing a full accounting cycle. - Experience preferred with investment transaction recording
, ADP multi-state payroll
, Avalara
, and Salesforce
. - A strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong communicator who can clearly articulate complex financial information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace tools
