Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract opportunity with a well-established construction company in Meriden, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing high-volume invoice processing and vendor payments.

The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
• Verify invoice coding and obtain appropriate approvals
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and account inquiries
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and records
• Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations
• Enter and maintain accounting data within the ERP or accounting system
• Support the accounting team with additional projects as needed
