Operations Management
Overview
You tour a facility and immediately notice what's wrong — the ceiling tile that came loose and wasn't reported, the HVAC unit making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who completed only part of the work but submitted a full invoice. You address problems before a customer raises a concern. You resolve issues before anyone realizes they existed. That sense is what this role requires.
2 Hour Learning runs high-quality K–12 campuses where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and presentation-ready at all times — not only when events are scheduled. You will maintain that expectation throughout the Northeast:
Manhattan serves as your base campus, with routine travel to facilities in CT, MA, and PA. Your contribution determines whether a campus maintains a premium standard or gradually deteriorates between leadership visits.
Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and cleaning up vendor relationships — defining what "ready" means, creating the audit schedule, removing vendors who fail to deliver, and bringing Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists into a consistent operational rhythm. As the region expands and your framework matures, the role transitions to ongoing regional oversight: you become the operator the organization relies on when opening a new campus, responding to an emergency, or revising a standard.
This is a field-based position. If you prefer to oversee operations remotely, this role is not suitable. If you want direct control over whether 25+ schools maintain a premium environment daily — and the autonomy to ensure that happens — continue reading.
Responsibilities- Performing scheduled on-site inspections at Northeast campuses using documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and tour-readiness — and converting inspection results into confirmed corrective measures
- Responding to facilities problems and emergencies, coordinating with vendors, and closing work orders only once issues are confirmed resolved (urgent within 24 hours, standard within 1 week)
- Overseeing local vendor execution against service-level agreements, removing vendors who fail consistently, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions on quality and cost performance
- Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists so that all campuses execute standardized procedures, not improvised responses
- Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC replacements, interior updates, landscaping, AV/networking installations) delivered on time and within budget, with minimal student disruption
- Documenting global operating standards and AI-enabled procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized sourcing systems) to ensure uniform campus launch and operation
- Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional performance, vendor execution, escalations, and capital expenditure variance
- Operating remotely via software — this position demands consistent physical presence at Manhattan and 20–40% travel to regional locations (CT, MA, PA)
- Planning new campuses from the ground up or managing construction delivery — capital expansion is handled by a separate team
- Creating company-wide procurement policy without field validation — your standards derive from direct site observation
- Working within clean organizational structures with formal authority over all personnel affecting your work — you will enforce accountability through clarity, documented follow-through, and rejection of ambiguous vendor schedules
- Treating "tour-ready only during leadership visits" as acceptable — recurring problems are diagnosed at the root, not repeatedly ticketed
- Operating in reactive firefighting mode by default — the audit schedule and predictive maintenance tools exist to identify failures before they generate complaints
- Located in New York City or within commuting range, prepared to work primarily from the Manhattan campus with 20–40% regional travel
- Authorized to work legally in the United States…
