Behavior Technician Floater - STARS Program

Description

The Meriden Public School District seeks applicants for a Behavior Technician for the STARS Program.

• Self-contained special education program
• Support students from K-12 who have autism and engage in challenging behaviors
• Areas of instruction include: functional life skills, academics, social/emotional behaviors, independent living, and vocational skills
• Students participate in adapted PE, art, music, and/or other appropriate electives
• Social skills and positive peer interactions are supported through general education peer courses and student internships
• Heavy focus on transition planning, appropriate behavior, job skills, self-advocacy, and independence
• Require adult support throughout the school day

The Behavior Technician should be able to work with students with behavioral challenges. Experience working with children with Autism is preferred. Previous training in physical management and de-escalation is preferred. Associate's degree or higher degree preferred.
