Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Operations Assistant
- Assumptions for a contract opportunity in Meriden, CT. This fully onsite position provides administrative and operational support to the Loan Operations team, with a primary focus on loan assumption processing, title review, mortgage lien analysis, and documentation coordination. The ideal candidate has experience in loan operations, mortgage servicing, loan processing, real estate, title, or legal/paralegal support and is comfortable reviewing property records, interpreting legal documents, and collaborating with internal teams, borrowers, and external partners to facilitate successful loan assumption transactions.
Loan Assumption Support
- Support Loan Operations leadership with daily assumption-related activities and documentation.
- Review and process loan assumption requests to ensure accuracy and compliance with company guidelines.
- Coordinate assumption documentation and assist with transaction processing from initiation through completion.
- Schedule assumption-related meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes.
Title & Documentation Review
- Read and interpret property titles and abstracts to verify ownership history, liens, and encumbrances.
- Review mortgage liens and assess their impact on loan assumption transactions.
- Organize and maintain assumption agreements, borrower correspondence, legal documents, and supporting records.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and operational documentation related to loan servicing activities.
Operations & Process Improvement
- Communicate with borrowers, lenders, attorneys, and internal departments to ensure efficient transaction processing.
- Assist with improving workflows, policies, and procedures to support operational efficiency.
- Complete additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
- Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- One or more years of experience in loan operations, mortgage servicing, loan processing, or administrative support within financial services.
- Experience reviewing property titles, abstracts, mortgage liens, or legal documentation.
- Paralegal or legal experience supporting real estate or mortgage transactions is preferred.
- Experience with mortgage servicing or loan processing is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Microsoft Excel skills are preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze property titles, abstracts, mortgage liens, and legal documentation.
- Knowledge of loan assumption scenarios, including borrower death, divorce or separation, family transfers, and FHA/VA loan assumptions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Standard office environment with extended periods of sitting and computer use.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training.
