Position Highlights This position is part of a team that has the honor of collaborating with and influencing statewide and national law enforcement as it pertains to police officer certification, accreditation, professional development, and training.

The successful candidate will work with multiple state agencies, law enforcement units, communities, stakeholders, and police officers to plan, organize, develop, and implement training, certification, and accreditation programs as well as conduct, coordinate, and participate in compliance certification assessments. This position leads staff and the operations of a comprehensive program that may involve in-service staff development or basic recruit training for police officers.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week. A hybrid schedule is available, and hours of work are flexible, based on assignments and agency need.

About Us The Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) carries out the objectives of the Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST Council or Council) within DESPP.

POSTC provides high quality basic, advanced, and specialized training to Connecticut police officers. POSTC creates and applies a comprehensive accreditation standards program for local law enforcement units. POSTC adopts and enforces regulations and statutes to certify and decertify members of Connecticut Law Enforcement Units.

DESPP is committed to protecting and improving the quality of life for all by providing a broad range of public safety services, training, regulatory guidance, and scientific services utilizing enforcement, prevention, education and state of the art science and technology. DESPP is structured on three key Strategic Pillars created by Commissioner Ronnell Higgins.
