Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Director for Medical Staff Services, the Medical Staff Coordinator manages the overall operation of the Medical Staff Office.
- Complies with and participates in the development of Medical Staff Policies and Procedures.
- Assures completion of the credentialing and re-credentialing process for all practitioners.
- Processes requests for additional privileges and changes in status;
Ensures all requests are processed in accordance with policies. Conducts all necessary primary source verifications and ensure applicants meet required privileging criteria. - Monitors monthly expirations of providers state licenses, federal DEA, CT Controlled Substance Registrations, professional liability insurance, board certifications and BLS, ACLS, ATLS, etc. as applicable.
- Implements and maintains compliance with Joint Commission Standards and State and Federal regulations for the department.
- Coordinates and supports committees as assigned which may include Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff meetings, Credentials Committee and Bylaws Committee
- Coordinates the Medical Staff Orientation Program
- Provides Executive level administrative support to the Officers of the Medical Staff, Division Directors
- Processes requests for Temporary Privileges in accordance with Credentialing Policy.
- Processes Reference Requests
- Initiates, monitors and tracks the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) process for initial privileging and additional privileging.
- Initiates, monitors and tracks the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) process for providers with clinical privileges.
- Participates in review of current work practices in the Central Region and provides feedback to improve process, create efficiencies and create standard work.
- Attends education seminars related to credentialing to maintain knowledge and compliance with standards and regulations. Earns continuing educational credits to maintain certification. Networks with other credentials professionals within CT and outside of CT.
- Assists in monitoring provider compliance with mandatory training programs or mandatory compliance programs such as HRO training, flu vaccination program and other training or compliance programs that may be assigned to providers.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a similar position preferred, or
- 3-5 years of experience in a hospital administrative support capacity at an advanced level required.
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). If not certified, obtain certification within one year of meeting the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) eligibility requirements.
- Valid CT Driver's License
- Advanced Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
