About the Role:
Are you passionate about technology and looking to gain hands‑on IT experience? The Meriden Public Schools Information Technology Department is seeking motivated Summer IT Support Interns to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to peek behind the curtain of an enterprise-level IT environment. You will work side‑by‑side with our experienced IT Technicians to refresh our infrastructure and prepare our schools for the upcoming academic year.
Key Responsibilities- Chromebook Repair: Diagnose and repair student Chromebooks, including replacing broken screens, keyboards, batteries, and system boards.
- Device Deployment: Unbox and prepare hundreds of new devices for student distribution.
- Inventory Management: Accurately log device statuses, update asset tags, and organize tech storage areas using our device inventory tool.
- Hardware Maintenance: Assist with cleaning, testing, and replacing classroom peripherals, including interactive flat panels, projectors, document cameras, and printers.
- Network Support: Support technicians with basic network troubleshooting, cable management, and verifying wired/wireless connectivity in classrooms.
- Quality Assurance: Perform post‑repair testing to ensure devices are fully functional before returning them to the student fleet.
- Currently enrolled college student with a strong interest in technology.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems (specifically Chrome
OS and Windows). - Comfortable using small hand tools for delicate electronics repair.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when managing inventory data and small screws.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., boxes of laptops) and work actively throughout the day.
- A positive, team‑oriented attitude and a strong willingness to learn on the job.
