Position Summary
Position Summary The RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing care and staff during assigned shifts to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compliant resident care. This role provides leadership, clinical oversight, and support to nursing staff while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and facility regulations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Clinical Oversight- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned shifts
- Ensure residents receive care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and regulatory standards
- Assess residents’ conditions and respond to changes in status appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments as needed
- Perform clinical rounds and monitor quality of care
- Assign duties and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to nursing staff
- Address performance issues and initiate disciplinary action in accordance with facility policy
- Participate in staff education and training
- Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations (CMS, DPH, OSHA)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
- Participate in audits, inspections, and surveys
- Ensure infection control policies and procedures are followed
- Communicate effectively with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Address resident and family concerns professionally and promptly
- Participate in care conferences as needed
- Report incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences per policy
- Complete shift reports and incident reports
- Monitor supplies and report needs
- Assist DON/ADON with quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper handoff communication between shifts
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- CPR/BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred (depending on facility needs)
- Minimum 1–3 years of nursing experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities
- Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation
- Nursing home / skilled nursing facility
- Exposure to infectious diseases, medical equipment, and varying resident needs
