The Quality Engineer ensures that products and processes meet stringent quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This role focuses on managing quality systems, analyzing non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement in a high-reliability manufacturing environment. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aerospace Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is designed for an individual with experience in Aerospace Manufacturing, Quality Management Systems, Auditing and a familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100, AS13100, FAA, and Nadcap.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of compliance regulations and a keen eye for detail. The Quality Engineer is responsible for process improvements which will minimize risk and uphold the company's ethical standards.
- Support regular internal audits to identify areas of risk and potential non-compliance.
- Oversee, collaborate, and provide guidance with the completion of audit and internal corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
- Complete review of contract and PO requirements for quality.
- Train production personnel on first piece and in-process inspections.
- Balloon drawings for key characteristics and create inspection eIMS.
- CLCSR (certified lab control at source rep) for material control lab (P&W).
- Complete new QA equipment qualifications and programming.
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives driving quality culture in production.
- Manage FAIR projects for timelines, generate, and review FAIR paperwork.
- Disposition and investigate RMAs.
- Conduct MRB meetings, collaborate with cross-functional team for disposition, and assign actions for reduction of nonconformances.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior across the organization.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes, continuously and proactively improving the compliance program and assess the impact of changes on the company.
- Any other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a plant quality assurance role within a Manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience working with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience in regulatory audits (internal and external) aerospace is preferred.
- Expertise with quality control techniques and tools (e.g., root cause analysis, non-conformance management).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and quality management software or systems.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
- Knowledge of basic quality concepts, lean manufacturing principles, and regulatory standards.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., Business Administration, Quality Assurance, or Engineering) is preferred.
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or similar certifications are a plus.
- Experience with Epicor, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or other process improvement certifications is a plus.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work in an office setting.
- Occasional travel to other company sites or client locations may be required.
