Senior Scientist – Pharmaceutical Materials Scientist

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced solid‑state characterization of large bRo5 molecules of pharmaceutical relevance.
• Apply novel crystallization techniques to recrystallize bRo5 molecules.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with colleagues to define and implement crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co‑crystal screening activities according to project timelines.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics to define and implement screening and characterization strategies consistent with solid‑form selection for clinical studies.
• Solve scientific problems using contemporary Materials Science experimental techniques.
• Contribute to the development of new scientific approaches and knowledge within the Materials Science organization.
• Ensure contemporaneous and accurate entries are made in the electronic laboratory notebook system according to accepted good practice.

• Master’s Degree (MS) with 2+ years of experience or a PhD in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in pharmaceutical solid‑state characterization techniques (e.g., x‑ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, spectroscopy, etc.) and strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Experience and understanding of infrared spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, FT‑Raman) and/or SSNMR.
• Experience solving Materials Science problems related to large molecules, such as solid‑state chemistry and particle characterization using experimental approaches and team collaboration.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersion strategies and the ability to develop innovative solid‑form screening strategies.
• Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry.
• Good organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in mathematical modeling.

• The position is full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
• May be requested to work on weekends, overtime, and holidays based on business needs.
