- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist guests in meeting their video gaming needs, inform guests about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items as appropriate, apply selling behaviors during each transaction, and thank guests for choosing Game Stop. Circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Address guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly, courteously, and professionally to ensure top-tier service.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Keep all areas of the store, including restrooms, clean, organized, and merchandised according to company guidelines. Ensure store fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety best practices; assist with bank deposits as required.
- Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move products from the stock room to the selling floor, ensuring products are represented and organized.
- Support store management in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposits are completed accurately. Maintain sufficient cash and change for sales; make daily deposits per guidelines.
- Check shipments for discrepancies or shortages; record discrepancies in the POS system and report as needed to management.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Conduct security checks at store closing or end of shift as needed.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures and observe associate performance to provide timely feedback to store management.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills and ability to provide genuine assistance to every guest during each visit.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; meet performance expectations including attendance, dress, and grooming.
- Operate the POS system and complete required paperwork; basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team to complete tasks promptly; strong problem-solving and judgment abilities.
