Description
ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full‑service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.
We are looking for a Crew Lead Installer to assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role also involves providing leadership to other crew members on the job.
Duties/Responsibilities- Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs
- Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customer needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid
- Maintains high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
- Completes projects within established policies and procedures
- Ensures that equipment is weather sealed
- Performs routine maintenance on PV systems
- Assists the Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system
- Trains crew members on all components utilized during installation (procedures, tools, lines of communication, etc.)
- Checks over provided jobs (pack out) before leaving the warehouse each morning to ensure provided material
- Reviews plans and counts parts from the plan set to verify BOM
- Responsible for final system walkthrough with the customer ensuring quality and aesthetic of install
- Maintains cleanliness of job site and installation vehicles
- Follows and actively enforces all OSHA and ION safety guidelines at their location, including attending weekly safety meetings and safety inspections per ION policy
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation
- Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to read building plans
- Ability to read equipment manuals
- Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels
- Ability to use ION technology, such as smartphones, Paycom, Field Pro, Sales Force, etc.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- A high‑school diploma or equivalent is required
- Solar install experience is required
- Vocational or technical school training is preferred
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
- Must be able to work at great heights
- Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time
- Installation is done outdoors; installers work on rooftops but also in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid
- Installers work as part of a team; installation of solar panels requires the help of technicians and electricians
