Crew Lead Installer

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full‑service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

We are looking for a Crew Lead Installer to assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role also involves providing leadership to other crew members on the job.

• Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs
• Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customer needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid
• Maintains high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
• Completes projects within established policies and procedures
• Ensures that equipment is weather sealed
• Performs routine maintenance on PV systems
• Assists the Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system
• Trains crew members on all components utilized during installation (procedures, tools, lines of communication, etc.)
• Checks over provided jobs (pack out) before leaving the warehouse each morning to ensure provided material
• Reviews plans and counts parts from the plan set to verify BOM
• Responsible for final system walkthrough with the customer ensuring quality and aesthetic of install
• Maintains cleanliness of job site and installation vehicles
• Follows and actively enforces all OSHA and ION safety guidelines at their location, including attending weekly safety meetings and safety inspections per ION policy
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation
• Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to read building plans
• Ability to read equipment manuals
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels
• Ability to use ION technology, such as smartphones, Paycom, Field Pro, Sales Force, etc.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

• A high‑school diploma or equivalent is required
• Solar install experience is required
• Vocational or technical school training is preferred

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

• Must be able to work at great heights
• Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time

• Installation is done outdoors; installers work on rooftops but also in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid
• Installers work as part of a team; installation of solar panels requires the help of technicians and electricians
