The ideal candidate holds a valid CDL, maintains a clean driving record, possesses Hazmat certification and a tanker endorsement, and demonstrates strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a dedication to outstanding customer service.
AboutThe Role
As a CDL Hazmat Driver, you will ensure safe, reliable delivery of materials throughout the region, complying with DOT (49 CFR) regulations and company safety standards, completing required documentation, and handling hazardous materials with care. You will build positive relationships with customers by providing friendly, professional service. Routes typically cover the tri‑state and surrounding areas, including Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities- Operate company vehicles in full compliance with 49 CFR (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). all traffic laws, company policies, and documented SOPs
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections to ensure vehicle roadworthiness
- Safely transport and deliver materials in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure proper securement of all materials, including hazardous materials
- Load and unload materials while maintaining product integrity and compliance standards
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation (BOLs, logs, inspections, hazmat paperwork)
- Utilize required safety equipment (PPE, spill kits, fire suppression tools)
- Report vehicle issues and coordinate maintenance/repairs as needed
- Report incidents, near misses, and corrective/preventive actions
- Ensure full compliance with hazmat regulations, including labeling, placarding, and documentation
- Follow emergency response procedures for hazardous material situations
- Strong knowledge of DOT / 49 CFR regulations
- Demonstrates a safety‑first mindset
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to identify and elevate compliance or safety issues
- Effective time management and route prioritization
- Clear, professional communication
- Strong problem‑solving skills in operational scenarios
- Consistent adherence to SOPs and regulatory requirements
- Adaptability to changing schedules and operational needs
- Valid CDL (required)
- Hazmat Certification (required)
- Tanker Endorsement (required)
- Clean driving record
- Experience operating commercial vehicles (tankers preferred)
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling regulations
- Ability to maintain DOT‑compliant logs and documentation
- Physical ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform related tasks
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, variable environment
- Complete required safety and compliance training on time
