We are seeking a dedicated Tax Associate to support a high‑performance team in delivering accurate and timely tax services in California and Colorado.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will prepare and review a variety of tax returns, provide feedback to associates, perform accounting procedures, conduct tax planning and research, and supervise junior staff. You will be expected to meet billable hour targets, adhere to deadlines, and maintain strong communication with clients and team members.

Essential Duties
  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and consolidated tax returns
  • Review associates’ and interns’ returns, providing constructive feedback to ensure quality
  • Perform and review quarterly and annual accounting procedures to prepare financial records for tax purposes
  • Identify organizational structures and related entities for tax implications and big‑picture impacts
  • Ensure accurate and complete data for filings, identifying and communicating missing information
  • Calculate quarterly and annual estimated tax liabilities accurately
  • Conduct tax planning to identify opportunities for improvement and added value for clients
  • Research and resolve complex tax issues, providing guidance and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients, providing updates and addressing questions
  • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns to enhance team performance and skill development
  • Assist with projects and engage in collaborative problem‑solving to support team efforts
  • Stay updated on tax laws and best practices through ongoing training and independent learning
  • Manage engagements efficiently, meeting deadlines, particularly during high‑demand periods
  • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities as assigned by firm leadership
  • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years of experience in tax preparation
  • CPA license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • In‑depth understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and document reviews
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Analytical skills to solve complex tax issues and understand broader financial implications
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities to supervise and develop junior staff
  • Full‑time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines
Compensation

California: $76,000 – $100,000
Colorado: $76,000 – $100,000
Actual compensation is influenced by experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Discretionary incentive compensation is based on firm, group, and individual performance.
