Provide front‑line support for the Office of Sponsored Programs in assisting ISU faculty and staff with seeking external funding opportunities and the development of proposals for external funding. Includes finding funding sources, developing proposals/budgets, and proposal submission. May assist with contract review and processing.
This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key responsibilities- Assist ISU faculty and staff in the development, review, and submission of proposals for external funding.
- Budget review and/or creation.
- Search for and disseminate information about funding opportunities.
- Provide training and education to faculty and staff about the Office of Sponsored Programs & grantsmanship.
- Ongoing direct communication with all levels of faculty and staff.
Research Administrator:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent work experience in a related field. (In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of six years combined education, training, and experience may be considered).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated experience with standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, databases, PDF software, web editing software).
- Previous experience working in time‑sensitive, deadline‑driven environments.
Senior Research Administrator:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 2.5 years of direct, progressively responsible experience in research administration (both pre‑ and/or post‑award) in an academic, research, or comparable setting.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in a higher education or service provider setting.
- Experience in research or contract administration.
- Graduate degree in a related field.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to manage complex, high‑volume workloads independently and consistently meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in interpreting complex sponsor guidelines and federal regulations, advising PIs and staff accordingly.
- Certified Research Administrator and/or other applicable certifications.

Salary will be between $50,000 and $55,000 per year for the Research Administrator level and up to $60,000 per year for the Senior Research Administrator level, commensurate with education and experience.
